Caso Clínico – Hemiparesia Aguda em Jovem Coelho Anão / Clinical Case - Acute Hemiparesis in Young Dwarf Rabbit

Após uma queda, este jovem coelho anão de 4 meses de idade, apresentava há 3 dias hemiparesia do membro posterior esquerdo. Ao exame neurológico foi possível observar que apresentava deficit proprioceptivo no mesmo membro não se deslocando. Encontrava-se também deprimido e com muito pouco apetite, indício inespecífico da presença de dor intensa.

Iniciado tratamento acupuntural complementado com Laser LLLT, após 2 sessões bissemanais, mostrava já mais apetite e começava a efectuar a sua higiene habitual. Foi-lhe dada alta após a 4ª sessão devido a deambulação praticamente perfeita, bom apetite, vontade de brincar e realização de manobras de toilete pessoal.

After falling down, this young dwarf rabbit, 4 months old, was having hemiparesis of the left hind limb for 3 days. The neurological exam has revealed that the limb was not moving due to its proprioceptive deficit.Th rabbit was also depressed and very inactive, which served as a nonspecific clue of him suffering from intense pain.

We started an acupuncture treatment complemented with LLLT Laser, and after two biweekly sessions he was already having better appetite and he was able to perform his hygienic routine. He was eventually discharged after 4th session as soon as his hind has recovered almost completely and he was showing good apetite, wilingness to play and ability to perform his hygienic procedures.
